the politics of privilege...

"Veganism is simply a justice-seeking response to the understanding of our privilege in being born human in a society dominated by humans. It’s understanding that we are a dominating, oppressive and abusive class. It’s actually not that hard to see or understand if you really want to. But you have to want to – because that same privilege gives you the option to ignore it..." excerpt from a brilliant article entitled "An appeal to nonvegans who understand privilege" by the vegan of aus...

why veganism?

this is one brilliant video which explains the philosophy of veganism, dispelling the myth that it is 'just a diet'... oh, it's non-graphic too...

it's just fucked...

to produce milk, as with all mammals, cows need to give birth in order to lactate... for the milk to be used by humans, they can't feed their own babies... what do you think might happen to those babies?

let's all get real, there is no such thing as 'humane' when we're talking about 'animal agriculture' - someone has to die for humans' lust for milk and flesh - for humans' gustatory 'pleasure'...

just do it - ditch the mammary secretions, flesh, fur, hide - while you're at it ditch eggs, fleece, circuses, zoos - hey, why not just ditch anything that enslaves, uses and abuses our nonhuman kin - it can't be justified!!!!

go vegan - for the animals, the planet, and because it's the right thing to do...

feminism must stop ignoring animals......

"The goal of feminism is to dismantle the hierarchical system that values certain groups over others: men over women, whites over blacks, straights over gays and so on. This false hierarchy permits the exploitation of those at the bottom by the powerful at the top. But mainstream feminism is failing to include non-human animals in the equation – and this needs to change..." writes Ruby Hamad ... read more at the scavenger

the (real) problem with peta...

another wonderful article by ruby hamad...

"Last week PETA launched its latest campaign against cosmetic testing on animals. The caption for the ad reads, ‘No bunny should have to suffer for beauty’ and sure enough, it stars an actual bunny rabbit and a bunny of the Playboy variety, Jessica-Jane Clement.

In typical Peta fashion, Clement is pictured naked, with coyly curled legs and a strategically placed bunny on her breasts. And so PETA continues its long history of undermining women to promote animal advocacy." ... read more here
